L-R: Lustering, Shy Girl, Milan Mode.
"A few days ago she posted a huge MAC rant and now she's buying three lipsticks, hypocrite?" I know that's what most of you will be thinking but I promise i'm not! I tried to make it as clear as possible that I didn't hate MAC at all but people who buy ridiculous amounts simply because of the brand name is just stupid in my opinion.
Anyway, i've been um'ing and ah'ing about buying a MAC lipstick for so long now and which colours to choose was just far too hard, the amount of choice is simply amazing. After standing looking/swatching most of them I decided to go for Lustering, Shy Girl and Milan Mode. I was tempted to go for more nudey colours like Hue and Creme'D nude but in the end I decided against them. Shy Girl was the perfect in between for a nude and a bright pink. Although Lustering and Milan Mode look very similar in the photograph they look very different on the lips. Milan Mode is much brighter, more of a shocking pink whereas Lustering is slightly more muted with a softer pink shade. Luckily I actually got one of them free as my Mam uses a few MAC eyeshadows so after much persuasion she back to mac'ed them and let me choose the freebie, yey!
Sorry there's no swatches girls but I totally forgot to do them. If you haven't bought a MAC lipstick before then I would definitely advise going to the counter and trying them on yourself rather then seeing a hype about a colour on youtube then buying it straight away. So many colours that are mentioned over and over on youtube which look great on certain people, when I tried them on myself just didn't suit me like i'd hoped. What suits 50 youtube gurus, won't always suit us aswell. I'd also say ignore the MAC assistants when they tell you what colour suits you. Take a friend or someone to advise you if you do need someone but just go for what YOU think suits you. As far as the actual lipstick itself is concerned (not including the colours) they are pretty much the same as a good drugstore lipstick, by that i'm excluding all the horrible lip drying ones, the colour selection however is 10x better. I hope that's helped any of you who haven't bought one before (like me until a few days ago) but have been wanting to for so long.
Off to the beach tomorrow if the weather stays nice so I promise there'll be some sort of person photos! |

Don't think your a hypocrite at all, I was completely with you on that post! Loving the look of the Shy girl lipstick! I wish my face carried lipstick, but in general I can only carry minimal make-up before I start to look like a clown!
And in reply to your comment, she has got a blog but she is completely useless at updating it, no matter how much I rave about blogging to her, haha! It's fashionafffair.blogspot.com

Lovely colours, have fun at the beach xx
Nah, your not a hypocrite, I know exactly what you mean. The only thing that I'm interested in trying from Mac are their lipsticks so this post was pretty helpful :) I really like the color of Milan Mode, it looks so vibrant!
