elf haul & review

*Long post warning* I'm sure you all heard about the 50% off everything code on Elf last week, as soon as I heard about it I knew i'd be mad to miss out. Obviously Elf is really cheap to begin with so getting them all at half price is basically a steal. Everyone seemed to have the same oppinion as me as most of the things I wanted were out stock. Powder shade I wanted, out of stock. Nail varnish I wanted, out of stock. Blush I wanted, out of stock and so on. Definitley wasn't stopping me from ordering so I settled for second best and even with these i'm not dissapointed.

High Definition Powder: The HD powder has been on my want list for so long but at £6 I thought it was pretty pricey for Elf. I'd seen quite a bit of hype around it and after wanting to try a translucent powder for a while I saw this half price opportunity as the perfect time to order it. So far i've only used it briefly and I can already tell I love it, part of my everyday makeup routine already. It has a slight shimmer/sparkle to it when you try it on your hand but it's not noticeable at all. The only down side to this is the packaging arrangement, A LOT spills out at one time making it hard to get a reasonable amount of product however, apart from that it's worth it!
Studio Pressed Powder: Just an average powder really, nothing too amazing. The shade is slightly too dark for me as the one I wanted was out of stock but it's still wearable when applied lightly. I've always used Rimmel Stay Matte and it's very very similar to that in my oppinion. For £3.50 though (or £1.75 with the code) it's a good purchase.

Studio Eyebrow Kit: Another thing i've been umm'ing and ahh'ing about for ages. Originally I though medium would be best for me, surprisingly it was sold out so I just settled with light and i'm so so glad that was the case. Light is the perfect colour for me as I don't want my eyebrows incredibly dark. I love it though, both the gel and the powder side are extremely useful and give great results!

Final two things I bought as you can see in the first photo are lilac nail varnish and an eyebrow/eyelash clear gel.

Lilac Nail Varnish: Really disappointed with this and unless you have time to paint your nails with 4 coats to get the desired colour then seriously, don't buy it. For £1.50 I know you can't expect a miracle but with the first coat it's pretty much invisible, second coat makes it just visible, by the third it's starting to look like the actual lilac colour and at last on the fourth coat it's near enough opaque. A lot of un needed hassle to just paint your nails.

The eyelash/eyebrow gel:
which has two sides although i'll only use the eyebrow end (even though I imagine they're both exactly the same?) is quite good. Keeps your eyebrows in place and stops any stray hairs from going in different directions.

Overall i'm really pleased with my order, for me Elf can sometimes be a let down (the mist and set makeup spray being the worst) but this time it hasn't disappointed.

Also, just to let you know i'm hopefully gonna try and take some outfit photos in my lunch break tomorrow as i'm on work experience, then post them on Thursday. Fingers crossed. Love you all!

I love the eyebrow kit, definitely worth the £3.50 I paid for it although I should have got the light instead of the medium like you as it's a bit dark! xxx
